Swiss space industry
As a founding member of the ESA (European Space Agency), Switzerland has helped shape Europe's space activities from the very beginning.
Switzerland contributes around 150 million Swiss francs per year to the ESA budget, thereby boosting innovation at more than 80 Swiss companies.
The Swiss space industry's contribution focuses on the development and construction of subsystems for use in space. The portfolio of products is broad and ranges from structures to optical, mechanical and electronic assemblies as well as scientific instruments and ground equipment.
With their comprehensive competencies and technologies, space companies in Switzerland are now also successful in commercial space projects and in non-European markets.
Most of Switzerland's space companies are grouped together in the Swiss Space Industries Group (SSIG) of Swissmem.
